Is it obligatory for me to perform 'Umrah before I perform Hajj

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 21259 )
Q: I intend to perform Hajj this year, if Allah wills. My question is: Is it obligatory for me to perform 'Umrah before I perform Hajj? I have not performed 'Umrah this year.
A : It is permissible for you to enter the state of ihram with any of the three types of Hajj, which are: tamattu', qiran, or ifrad. Tamattu' is: entering the state of ihram for 'Umrah in the months of Hajj, completing it, then entering the state of ihram for Hajj in your year. You would owe the fidyah of tamattu' if you are not from the residents of the sacred precinct of the mosque, and this is the best of the types of Hajj. Qiran is: entering the state of ihram for 'Umrah and Hajj together, and not exiting the state of ihram until you perform the rites of Hajj on the day of the festival, including stoning the pillars, shaving your head or shortening your hair, then exiting the prohibitions of ihram except for women, then circumambulating the Ka'bah and walking between al-Safa and al-Marwah for Hajj and 'Umrah, and exiting the state of ihram completely,
and you owe the fidyah as does the one performing tamattu'. Ifrad is: entering the state of ihram for Hajj alone, and remaining in your state of ihram until you perform the rites of Hajj as previously explained. You do not owe a fidyah, and it is not obligatory for you to perform 'Umrah unless you have not performed the 'Umrah of Islam. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
