The second question of Fatwa No. ( 20174 )
Q2: What is the ruling on one who wishes to perform Hajj and has a brother or neighbor suffering from a serious illness with no means to treat himself; is he obligated to spend on this sick person, or is he obligated to perform Hajj?
A2: If the Hajj is the obligatory Hajj, it is obligatory for him to perform it if its conditions are met. If the Hajj is a voluntary Hajj, then assisting the needy person whose need is severe is better than it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
