Fasting to fulfill needs
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The seventh question of Fatwa number ( 20834 )
Q7: It is said among us that if a person wants Allah to fulfill his need, he should fast. What is the manner of this fast?
A7: Fasting for the purpose of fulfilling needs is a religious innovation (bid'ah) with no basis. Rather, a person should draw near to Allah through voluntary acts of worship, obeying Allah and seeking His reward, with sincerity to Allah alone, not for worldly objectives. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that among those whose supplications are not rejected is the fasting person until he breaks his fast, and that the fasting person has a supplication at the time of breaking his fast that is not rejected. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
