Making up Ramadan in the future
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 20022 )
Q2: My mother is 58 years old. She fell ill on 7/7/1418 AH, and this illness caused her a disability in her right foot. By the grace of Allah, she has begun to return to her previous state. Please note that she did not fast Ramadan in order to use her medication, and eating is necessary for her because she cannot control her urination, may Allah reward you. Do we feed on her behalf, or is she required to make up the fasts? Does she have to pay an expiation, and what is the amount? ?
A2: If your mother is able to make up Ramadan in the future after Allah the Exalted heals her, it is obligatory for her to wait until her healing is complete, then make up the days she owes. There is no expiation. However, if her illness is permanent and she is unable to make up the fasts in the future, she is required to feed one poor person for each day she broke her fast, with half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the staple food of the country, which is approximately 1.5 kilograms. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
