Q1: What is the ruling on one who forgot to cut his hair after completing the rites of Hajj and did not remember it until a long time later?
A1 : Shaving the head or shortening the hair is an obligatory act of worship in Hajj and 'Umrah. If one leaves it off due to forgetfulness, it is obligatory for him to shave or shorten it when he remembers. If he has sexual intercourse before shaving or shortening, he must pay an expiation for the intercourse, which is a sheep that is acceptable for the 'Id sacrifice, slaughtered in Makkah and distributed to the poor of the Haram ; because in Hajj he has not completed the second state of release, and intercourse before it necessitates the expiation. Likewise, in 'Umrah, he has not achieved release from it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
