Forgetting the Shaving or Shortening of the Hair
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 20979 )
Q1: Indeed,my wife and I performed 'Umrah, and then I went and shaved my head, and then we went to the city ofJeddahthat same night. My wife did not remember that she had not shortened her hair until after 'Asr on the second day, and she then shortened it. It is most likely that intercourse took placebefore she shortened her hair. Is there anything required of her? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good.
A1 : Since this woman shortened her hair after she remembered that she had not shortened her hair for her 'Umrah, she has done what was obligatory upon her. However, she must still slaughter a sheep that is acceptable as an 'Id sacrifice, to be slaughtered in Makkah and distributed to its poor; because it was most likely in her mind that intercourse occurred before she exited the state of ihram from her 'Umrah by shortening her hair, and her 'Umrah is valid. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
