Q: I am a Saudi doctor, and I have a clinic complex named (Al-Asrah al-Shamilah) – a clinic – and I want to pay my zakah to the Zakat Authority in Makkah al-Mukarramah . Since my capital is approximately (150,000) one hundred and fifty thousand riyals, if the amount of zakah on my capital is (3,750) three thousand seven hundred and fifty riyals, is there any other zakah due on me? Knowing that my income from this business – i.e., the money I earn from this business (the clinic) – I spend on myself and my family, and no amount remains over which a lunar year passes. I ask for clarification of what is obligatory for me to pay to the Zakat Authority according to the Shari'ah.

A: If an amount from the earnings of that clinic becomes available to you that reaches the nisab on its own or when combined with other assets, and a lunar year has passed over it from the time it became available to you, then zakah is obligatory on it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
