Zakah on the accumulated wealth upon the completion of the lunar year

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 20149 )
Q: We are a medical center that treats eye diseases. We have liquid funds in the bank and in the safe, which we spend on expenses, expansion, or purchasing equipment and the like. These amounts fluctuate significantly, and we do not know when the lunar year (hawl) will complete for them so that zakah becomes due. For example, these funds in the previous year were as follows: First month 740,000 riyals, second month 730,000 riyals, third month 675,000 riyals, fourth month 615,000 riyals, fifth month 605,000 riyals, sixth month 130,000 riyals.
Seventh month 265,000 riyals, eighth month 270,000 riyals, ninth month 125,000 riyals, tenth month 7,000 riyals, eleventh month 40,000 riyals, twelfth month 105,000 riyals. Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good, of the correct method for calculating this zakah.

A: If the situation is as you described, that you receive successive amounts from your work in this center, and it is difficult for you to consider the lunar year (hawl) for each amount individually, then the most preferable and easiest option for you is to pay the zakah upon the completion of the lunar year on the amount you have accumulated from that amount to the same period of the following year. The amount of zakah is one-quarter of a tenth, i.e., two and a half percent. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
