Passing the miqat without entering ihram

Fatwa number ( 16630 )

Q: We went to Makkah al-Mukarramah on Wednesday, corresponding to 29/8/1414 AH, and we intended to perform 'Umrah on the second day of the blessed month of Ramadan. Our travel was by plane, and we passed the miqat without entering ihram from Riyadh to Jeddah . We went to the miqat on the second day of Ramadan, entered ihram for 'Umrah, and completed the 'Umrah. Do we have any obligation regarding passing the miqat and our intention to perform 'Umrah in Ramadan or not?
A : Whoever comes to Makkah intending to perform 'Umrah, it is not permissible for him to pass the miqat without entering ihram. However, if you returned to the miqat that you passed and entered ihram from it, then you owe nothing; because you rectified the mistake. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
