Fatwa number ( 18781 )
Q: I reside in Abha . My wife and I intended to perform 'Umrah as part of the tamattu' Hajj, and we entered the state of ihram with the intention of 'Umrah on the plane at the miqat. We arrived in Jeddah and met
my father, who was coming from Cairo and was in the state of ihram like us, intending 'Umrah as part of the tamattu' Hajj. We left our three children with our relatives in Jeddah on Monday, 4 Dhul-Hijjah, and went to Makkah al-Mukarramah . We performed the 'Umrah, then exited the state of ihram from the 'Umrah and went to al-Madinah al-Munawwarah to pay respects to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We returned to Jeddah on Tuesday, 5 Dhul-Hijjah, at 2:00 PM. My wife, my father, and I sat with our children in Jeddah on Friday, 8 Dhul-Hijjah. After the Friday prayer, we entered the state of ihram for Hajj from Jeddah , and we left our children in Jeddah . We performed the rituals of Hajj, and each of us slaughtered the hady for the tamattu'. Is there any violation in our entering the state of ihram for Hajj from Jeddah , for my wife, my father, and me? And is there anything else required of us? May Allah reward you with good

A : It is obligatory for each of you to offer a sacrificial animal (dam) for leaving off the state of ihram from the miqat of Madinah when returning from it; because you were returning with the intention of Hajj. The dam is a head of sheep that is acceptable for the 'Id sacrifice, to be slaughtered in Makkah and distributed to the poor there. It is prescribed for one who travels to Madinah to intend with his travel to visit al-Masjid al-Nabawi and pray in it, and to make paying respects to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions (may Allah be pleased with them both) follow from that. It is not permissible for a Muslim to intend to visit Madinah solely to pay respects to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the authentic hadith:
One should not undertake journeys except to three mosques: al-Masque al-Haram (in Makkah ), the Aqsa mosque, or this mosque (in Madinah).لا تشد الرحال إلا إلى ثلاثة مساجد: المسجد الحرام ، ومسجدي هذا، والمسجد الأقصى
Bulugh al-Maram 5:58
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions
