The Miqat of the People of Madinah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 16353 )
Q1: I am a resident of al-Madinah al-Munawwarah , and when I want to perform 'Umrah, I intend to perform 'Umrah from my house and then put on the ihram clothes. After that, I go to the miqat " Abwar 'Ali " and pray two rak'ahs, and then I go to Makkah . Some people told me: If you put on the ihram clothes from your house, that is sufficient, and there is no need for you to go to the miqat, because you are a resident of Madinah. What is the prescribed practice in this matter?
A1 : Ihram is performed from the miqat that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) designated, and the miqat of the people of Madinah is Dhul-Hulaifah " Abwar 'Ali ". Ihram means: the intention to enter into the rites of pilgrimage. As for taking a bath and wearing the ihram clothes without the intention, that is not ihram, but rather preparation for ihram; so it is permissible for you to take a bath in Madinah and wear the ihram clothes. When you reach the miqat, you intend the ihram
and perform the tawaf from there. Praying the two rak'ahs before the ihram is a recommended practice (sunnah) according to some scholars, and it is not obligatory. If you do it, you will have reward, and if you leave it, there is no sin on you, and the ihram is valid, if Allah wills. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
