The first question of Fatwa No. ( 18368 )
Q1: I live in Jeddah and I want to perform Hajj al-Tamattu' with my family. Is it permissible for me to perform 'Umrah in Shawwal or Dhu al-Qa'dah, then return to Jeddah and resume my work, given that the nature of my job requires constant travel, and then go to Mina on the eighth day of Dhu al-Hijjah? And if I return to Jeddah and resume my work, and then my boss informs me that he does not approve of my going to
Hajj, and I have already performed 'Umrah with the intention of Hajj, what is my obligation?
A1 : If you enter the state of ihram for 'Umrah in the months of Hajj, intending to combine it with Hajj (tamattu'), then you travel to your country and wish to perform Hajj in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, and before you enter the state of ihram, your boss prevents you from performing Hajj, then there is no blame on you; because Hajj becomes obligatory only by entering the state of ihram for it, not by a person's intention that he will perform Hajj this year or another. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
