Zakah on money accumulated from a machine purchased on installments by a group of doctors

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 17747 )
Q1: We are a group of doctors who purchased a machine called a "scanner," used in the field of medicine, through a loan from a bank, with the condition that we repay this debt over specified periods within a span of 5 years (amounting to 500 million Moroccan dirhams). Despite the amounts we pay to the bank, we accumulate additional money that meets the conditions for zakah (the nisab and the passage of a lunar year). Do we have to pay zakah on this surplus money or not? Please note that southern Morocco as a whole, which includes more than (5) cities, has only this purchased machine. Please guide us in this matter; may Allah reward you with good.
A1: Zakah is obligatory on the income you obtain from the aforementioned machine if a lunar year passes over it and each partner’s share reaches the zakah nisab. It is permissible for the partners to appoint one person to pay the zakah
on behalf of all of them, so that he acts in their place in distributing the zakah to its lawful channels.
