Zakah on twenty thousand riyals
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and second questions of Fatwa No. ( 14422 )
Q1: We are residents of al-Abdal in the Jizan region, and we have qat farms. The government ordered us to uproot that qat in exchange for paying (50 riyals) as a fee for each seedling. We actually complied with the government's order and uprooted the qat, and we received a large amount exceeding (20,000 riyals). The question is: 1- Is zakah obligatory on this money ? 2- If it is obligatory, is it paid upon receipt, or must a lunar year pass over it? 3- Also, if the answer is that zakah is due, is it one-tenth, one-half, or one-fourth?
A1: If you received the amount from the government and a lunar year passed over it, then it is obligatory
to pay zakah on it, and it is one-quarter of one-tenth.
