Paying an amount in excess of the obligatory zakah from one's wealth and wanting to count it toward the zakah of the coming year

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 19128 )
Q2: If I paid the zakah, and then I noticed that the amount I paid as zakah was greater than the limit I was required to pay, is it permissible for me to take the excess amount I paid last year from the zakah of the coming year? For example: I owed (100 riyals) in zakah this year, and I paid (200 riyals), but when I calculated, I saw that paying (100 riyals) was more than what was due, so I will take (100 riyals) less from the zakah of the next year; because I paid more than what was due last year?
A2 : If you have paid the zakah of your wealth for a past year, and then it becomes clear to you that the zakah you paid was in excess of the obligatory zakah due on you, then it does not suffice for you to intend the excess as zakah for your wealth for the coming year or as part of it; because it is necessary
to have the intention when paying the zakah, and you did not intend this excess for the coming year when you paid it, so it does not suffice for it, and it is obligatory for you to pay the zakah of your wealth for the coming year without this excess. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
