Giving one's sister, who does not live with him, from the zakah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of the fatwa number ( 20422 )
Q2: We are a family living together—the father, the mother, and the sons. We have a married brother who lives with us and spends on us, and the father also spends on us at times. We also have another brother who covers some of the expenses. The first brother has zakah that he wants to pay out. We have a sister who is about to get married. Can he give her the zakah to help with her wedding preparations? Also, can a brother give his poor sister—who does not live with him—the zakah, or not?
A2 : There is no harm in a brother giving his sister, who does not live with him, from the zakah, provided she is among those eligible for zakah to whom it is permissible to distribute it. If she is poor, her brother gives her what is sufficient for her maintenance for one year due to her poverty. Once your sister possesses the zakah, she may spend it on permissible maintenance or on the necessities required for her marriage.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
