Paying the zakah on cattle from other than one's own cattle
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 14187 )
Q: If a group of people have one hundred and sixty-five head of cattle, is it permissible for them to pay their zakah from the cattle of another person, if they do not wish to pay it from their own cattle?
A: It is permissible for a person to pay the required head of cattle from other than his own cattle, provided that they are equal to his cattle in quality or better. However, buying the worst ones and paying them out does not suffice for the zakah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
