The Rawatib of 'Isha'

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 16689 )
Q: I am one of the students sent to France , and we witness errors, among which is that after the 'Isha' prayer in Ramadan, they do not pray the rawatib sunnah; instead, they stand up for the tarawih prayer. We ask your Eminence to clarify what has been mentioned above in detail, and I ask Allah to reward you with the best reward and to make your knowledge beneficial?
A: The rawatib of 'Isha' is after it, and it consists of two rak'ahs from the rawatib sunnahs accompanying the obligatory prayers. It is among the most emphasized sunnahs, due to the hadith of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
I preserved from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) two rak'ahs before the midday prayer, and two rak'ahs after it, and two rak'ahs after the sunset prayer, and two rak'ahs after the night prayer, and two rak'ahs before the dawn prayer - meaning Fajrحفظت عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ركعتين قبل الظهر، وركعتـين بعدها، وركعتين بعد المغرب، وركعتين بعد العشاء، وركعتين قبل الغداة- أي الفجر
- ) It is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. The majority of scholars stated its recommendation (mustahabb). From this, it is known that leaving it is a negligence regarding these sunnahs, and it is known that the doer of the sunnahs is rewarded, and the one who leaves them is not punished. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
