The second question of Fatwa number ( 18477 )
Q2: If a person forgets to recite a verse from al-Fatihah in one of the prayers , does he perform the prostration for forgetfulness without performing a rak'ah in place of the one in which he forgot to recite the surah in full or a verse from the surah?
A2 : If one forgets to recite al-Fatihah or a verse from it, he must perform a rak'ah in place of the rak'ah in which he left off reciting al-Fatihah or a verse from it, if he is the imam or praying alone, and he should perform the prostration for forgetfulness. However, if he is a ma'mum, the imam bears it for him, and nothing is required of him if he was ignorant or forgetful.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
