The Tawaf and Sa'y of the One Combining Hajj and 'Umrah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q1: I performed Hajj last year with my daughter, and my maternal cousin’s son and his daughter performed Hajj with us. We were with one of the organized groups. We arrived at the miqat on the night of the eighth of Dhu al-Hijjah. On that night, all the groups, or most of them, arrive from various parts of the Kingdom, causing severe congestion in the Tawaf and Sa'y. Therefore, I and my daughter entered the state of ihram as those combining Hajj and 'Umrah, taking into account my daughter’s young age and physical weakness. My maternal cousin’s son and his daughter did the same, as he insisted on doing what we were doing. Then we went directly to Mina after entering ihram. We made our Tawaf and Sa'y after 'Arafah and Muzdalifah, on the night of the eleventh. We completed all the rituals, and we are very grateful to Allah for that. However, we did not perform Tawaf and Sa'y for Hajj and 'Umrah separately, except for one Tawaf, which was the Tawaf of Ifadah, and one Sa'y after it. The question, O Noble Mufti, is that some of the women accompanying us in the group
began to mock our daughters, saying: "Your Hajj is incomplete." The daughters were affected by this speech and became anxious and doubtful because of it. I convinced them that our action was valid, but some unease remains in their hearts. I hope you will graciously clarify the truth in this matter: was our action correct, and is our Hajj valid, if Allah wills?
J1: The questioner and those with him, as mentioned in his question, have performed a valid Hajj, because the one performing Qiran is only required to perform one Tawaf and one Sa'y, and when departing, he performs the farewell Tawaf. He and those with him should not pay attention to what others who have no knowledge of the rulings of Hajj say.
