Collecting from charity funds to fence a cemetery is to be spent on what it was collected for
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: I collected a sum of money to fence a cemetery in our town. After finishing the fencing, I had a remaining amount. I should mention that I have heard from some of these funds that they are stock profits, and from others that they are savings profits (interest-based). We hear that these are not to be spent on good deeds such as mosques and the like, but rather on public facilities in the town.
The Shaykh: The names of those who gave me this money are not known to me, though I may know some of them. Should I spend this money on the public facilities in the town, or is it necessary to consult the owners of the funds, or what should I do with it? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good. Also, I collected money to build the imam's house, and the house was completed, and I have some money left over. I also do not know who gave it to me because of the long time that has passed, though I know some of them, and they are few. What should I do with this money? May Allah reward you with good?
A: It is permissible for you to spend the remaining money from the project for which you took it on something similar to it; because the purpose is the same.
