The wealth that has been accumulated and a lunar year has passed over it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 210 )
Q: A person accumulated a sum of money through his lawful earnings. A lunar year has passed over most of it, but he spent it on things that brought him benefit. He asks whether zakah is obligatory on it?
A: For the money he accumulated that has reached the nisab and a lunar year has passed over it, zakah is obligatory, even if he disposed of it after the year by marriage or the like. If he did not pay the zakah due on the portion of his wealth for which it was obligatory, it remains a debt in his liability, and he must pay it. As for the portion of
his wealth that did not have a lunar year pass over it because he spent it before that, there is no zakah on it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
