Catching One Rak'ah of the Maghrib Prayer with the Imam

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 21672 )
Q5: If one catches one rak'ah of the Maghrib prayer, does he make up the two missed rak'ahs together, or does he separate them with a sitting and tashahhud? And if one catches one rak'ah of a four-rak'ah prayer, whether it is the Zuhr, 'Asr, or 'Isha' prayer, does he begin making up what he missed with one rak'ah, sit, and recite the tashahhud before praying the first two rak'ahs, or does he pray the two rak'ahs and recite the tashahhud before praying
the remaining single rak'ah? There is also debate among people regarding this, so we ask you to inform us of the correct ruling.

A5: If one catches one rak'ah of the Maghrib prayer with the imam, it is obligatory for him to sit for the first tashahhud after making up the second rak'ah, then sit for the final tashahhud after making up the third rak'ah. And if one catches one rak'ah of a four-rak'ah prayer with the imam, it is obligatory for him to sit for the first tashahhud after making up the second rak'ah, then sit for the final tashahhud after making up the last two rak'ahs. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
