Passing Gas

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16053 )
Q 2: Does passing gas from a human being invalidate the ablution or not?
A 2: Passing gas from one who has performed ablution invalidates his ablution by explicit text and scholarly consensus; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the one praying:
He should not return (from prayer) unless he hears a sound or perceives a smell (of passing wind).لا ينصرف حتى يسمع صوتًا أو يجد ريحًا
Sahih Muslim 361
narrated by al-Bukhari . This means: until he is certain that gas has passed from him, which indicates that it invalidates his ablution. And his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
When one of you releases air (through his anus) during Salat (prayer), he should break the Salat (prayer) then perform ablution and repeat the prayer.إذا فسا أحدكم في الصلاة فلينصرف، وليتوضأ ويعيد الصلاة
Bulugh al-Maram 2:68
narrated by Ahmad and the people of the four Sunan, and it was authenticated by Ibn Hibban . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
