Compel your son to perform the prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 20637 )
Q: I have a son who is approximately 35 years old, and he has four children and a wife. He had a job but left it, and now he is living in the house with the family. The aforementioned son does not perform the prayer at all, definitely. I have tried up to hitting and cursing him, but there is no benefit. The mosque is in front of the house, about ten meters away, and he does not know it. If I drag him by force, he catches up with one rak'ah with the praying people and says the closing salam without catching up with the rest of the prayer. His wife is righteous and his children perform the obligatory prayer in congregation. I fear for the children being lost if I inform their mother and inform them, knowing that I have sought refuge in Allah from him repeatedly and often, and I hit him, but he did not respond to me; therefore, we ask your Eminence to be generous with what is incumbent upon this man, knowing that he is of sound mind in its entirety, knowing that he does not respond to me except with: (I pray), so I say to him: Where do you pray? He said: Allah is worshipped in every place. We ask Allah, then your Eminence, to clarify the matter. May Allah reward you with good, and keep you a light for this peninsula, and may Allah protect you and guide your steps.
After the Committee studied the inquiry, it answered that you must compel your son to perform the prayer. If he refuses and he is able to live on his own, it is obligatory for you to expel him from your house. If he is not able to live on his own, you must continue advising him and compelling him to pray, and report him to the Commission for Promoting Virtue and Prohibiting Vice so that they can help you with him. You must be patient and seek reward from Allah, and Allah will help you. We ask Allah for guidance for us, for you, and for him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
