Q: One day, I was struck by a high fever (illness). I got up for the Fajr adhan, but I was unable to pray. However, I took my medication. I said: Perhaps I will feel better and then I can pray. But I fell asleep and did not wake up until nine o'clock, and I was in a state of major ritual impurity. I said: I will take a bath and then pray. But I was unable to do so. I sat waiting for the time to get up and take a bath until the Zuhr adhan. When the Zuhr adhan was called, I resolved to perform tayammum and then pray Fajr and Zuhr . What is the way out of this sin, considering that I had hoped to pray within its time, but things turned out as they did? And what is the course of action in such a situation?
A : It is obligatory for you to pray the prayer at its time according to your ability; standing, sitting, or lying on your side. And you must purify yourself for prayer with water. If you are unable to use it, then you perform tayammum; based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:[At-Taghabun 64:16]
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
