The first question of fatwa number ( 20867 )
Q1: When I was in the wilderness, I woke up for the dawn prayer, performed ablution, and prayed. About an hour before the midday prayer, it became clear to me that I had wet dreams during the night, but I did not have water when I realized this, so I performed dry ablution and repeated the dawn prayer. I knew that someone would bring water after the midday prayer. When the water arrived after the midday prayer, I performed ablution but did not take a bath due to my ignorance, and I prayed the midday and afternoon prayers. What is required of you, may Allah bless you? I do not know when the first bath after that was, and may Allah reward you with good?
A1 : Your ablution for the dawn, midday, and afternoon prayers while you were in a state of major ritual impurity does not suffice to remove the state of major ritual impurity, nor does it exempt you from performing the obligatory prayer, even if you did not know about the major ritual impurity at the time of your ablution. This is because it became clear to you that you performed it without purity, as the state of major ritual impurity is not removed except by bathing with water or performing dry ablution when water is absent or one is unable to use it. Likewise, your dry ablution to repeat the dawn prayer an hour before the midday prayer, after it became clear to you
that you had wet dreams during the night, while you knew that water would be brought to you after the midday prayer, does not suffice in this case, nor does it remove the ruling of major ritual impurity. You are considered to be in the position of one who has access to water because of the proximity of obtaining it, and because the time for the dawn prayer has passed. Its time for you is from the moment you remembered the wet dream, and it does not harm to delay it slightly for the benefit of bathing with water for it, so that you are in the most complete state of purity. Accordingly, it is obligatory for you to repeat the dawn, midday, and afternoon prayers after purifying yourself from the minor and major states of ritual impurity. As for the prayers you prayed after that before bathing from the major ritual impurity, and you do not know how many they were, you should take precaution in that. Whatever is the most likely number of those obligatory prayers you performed while in a state of major ritual impurity, you should repeat them after performing ablution for them or bathing if you were in a state of major ritual impurity. There is no blame on you in that, because you are excused due to ignorance. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
