Reviewing the Memorization of the Qur'an
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 21674 )
Q 2: What do you advise us to do to preserve what we have forgotten? Unfortunately, this is from what we had memorized of the Book of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and the cause of this is the busyness of life, not negligence regarding the Qur'an. And is listening to the Qur'an from a tape considered like reciting it?
A 2 : First: One of the greatest causes of memorization is frequently reviewing the memorized text and studying it, with attention to it, along with supplicating to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and seeking His help in this by performing acts of obedience and abandoning sins. Second: Listening to the Qur'an, whether directly from the reciter or from recorded tapes,
carries reward and merit, but the person’s own recitation is greater in reward. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
