Q 3: In Morocco , the majority of those who carry the Qur'an (reciters) call for people
in exchange for a certain amount of money, and they also recite for the deceased for a fee. In occasions such as weddings, the calls are raised according to the amount of money given to them, and likewise regarding the verses of the Qur'an, they lengthen the recitation according to the ratio of the fee. So what do we describe these people as, or what is said to them, given that they have gone astray and led others astray, while mentioning Allah with ecstatic utterances and drums, and flutes also intervene in the occasions? And what is the ruling on one who invites them to attend his celebration?
A : It is not permissible to recite the Qur'an for the purpose of seeking a wage for the recitation and making that a profession; because reciting the Qur'an is obedience and a means of drawing near to Allah, and acts of obedience and means of drawing near are not to be made a means for seeking the worldly life. Allah the Exalted said:[Hud 11:15-16] the verse. It is not permissible to mix the remembrance of Allah with hand drums, musical instruments, and flutes; because of the belittling of the remembrance of Allah and its mixing with forbidden things in that, and that is not known except among the Sufis , the people of misguidance. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

(15) Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments - We fully repay them for their deeds therein, and they therein will not be deprived. (16) Those are the ones for whom there is not in the Hereafter but the Fire. And lost is what they did therein, and worthless is what they used to do.
مَنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا وَزِينَتَهَا نُوَفِّ إِلَيْهِمْ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فِيهَا وَهُمْ فِيهَا لاَ يُبْخَسُونَ (15) أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ فِي الآخِرَةِ إِلا النَّارُ
