Reciting tasbih with a tasbih counter during the Friday sermon
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 15662 )
Q 1: What is the ruling in the religion regarding tasbih with a misbaha during the Friday sermon while the imam is on the minbar , and likewise tasbih with the hands?
A 1: It is obligatory to listen attentively during the Friday sermon, due to the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to do so and his prohibition of speaking and moving at that time. Therefore, it is not permissible to recite tasbih or use a tasbih counter during that time. As for outside the time of the sermon, using a tasbih counter to count tasbih is permissible, provided that one does not believe it has any special virtue or that it is adopted as a symbol. Reciting tasbih with the fingers is better, due to the action of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and because the fingers will testify and speak on the Day of Resurrection.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
