The second question of Fatwa No. ( 16863 )
Q 2: The khatib is delivering the Friday sermon and his ablution is invalidated. Does he interrupt the sermon and perform ablution, or what does he do?
Vol. 2: The Sunnah indicates that a Muslim should not proceed to the mosque on Friday
unless he has performed the full ritual bath and the ablution; due to the hadith of Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 497Hasan (Darussalam) It was narrated by Ahmad and the compilers of the Sunan, and from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Riyad as-Salihin 1152 It was narrated by al-Bukhari . However, if the imam's ablution is broken while he is delivering the Friday sermon, he should continue and complete it, then perform the ablution after the sermon for the sake of the prayer, since the ablution is not a condition for the sermon, but rather the ablution is a condition for every prayer before entering into it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
