Naming the Mosque al-Mustafa Mosque

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 20334 )
Q: Naming the neighborhood mosque al-Mustafa Mosque We ask our esteemed Shaykh to issue a ruling on whether this name is appropriate for our mosque, as there are those who object to naming the mosque with the aforementioned name. The objection of those who oppose the naming is that this name is applied exclusively to the Prophet’s Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him and his family and companions), and we are a group of residents who wish for this name to be applied to our mosque. We request a written ruling on this matter.
A: It is not permissible to name the aforementioned mosque, nor any other mosque, al-Mustafa Mosque; because this name is specific to the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, so it is not permissible to apply it to other mosques; due to the many prohibitions that may result from doing so. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
