The Bedouin’s Hadith with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the Mataf

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 12430 )
Q: I am sending you a paper titled: ( If He Holds Me to Account, I Will Hold Him to Account ), which reads: ( While the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was performing Tawaf, he heard a Bedouin saying: O Generous One. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said behind him: O Generous One. The Bedouin then moved toward the direction of the Mizab (drain) and said: O Generous One. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said behind him: O Generous One. The Bedouin turned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O one with a beautiful face, and O one with a graceful stature, are you mocking me? By Allah, if it were not for the beauty of your face and the grace of your stature, I would have complained about you to my beloved Muhammad. The Messenger smiled and said: Do you not know your Prophet, O brother of the Arabs? The Bedouin said: No. The Prophet said: Then what is your faith in him? He said: I believe in his prophethood though I have not seen him, and I believe in his message though I have not met him. The Prophet said: O
Bedouin, know that I am your Prophet in this world and your intercessor in the Hereafter. The Bedouin turned to kiss the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but the Prophet said: Stop, O brother of the Arabs, do not do to me what the non-Arabs do to their kings, for Allah the Exalted sent me not arrogant nor tyrannical, but sent me with the truth, as a bringer of good news and a warner. Then Jibril descended and said to me: Peace greets you and singles you out for greeting and honor, and says to you: Tell the Bedouin that our forbearance and our generosity should not delude him, for we may hold him to account for the little and the much, the trivial and the significant. The Bedouin said: Will my Lord hold me to account, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Yes, He will hold you to account if He wills. The Bedouin said: By His Majesty and His Glory, if He holds me to account, I will hold Him to account. The Prophet said: And on what will you hold your Lord to account, O brother of the Arabs? The Bedouin said: If my Lord holds me to account for my sin, I will hold Him to account for His forgiveness; if He holds me to account for my disobedience, I will hold Him to account for His pardon; if He holds me to account for my stinginess, I will hold Him to account for His generosity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wept until his beard was wet. Then Jibril (peace be upon him) descended upon the Prophet and said: O Muhammad, Peace greets you and says to you: Reduce your weeping, for you have distracted the bearers of the Throne from their glorification. Tell your Bedouin brother that he will not hold us to account, nor will we hold him to account, for he is your companion in Paradise.

A: The aforementioned hadith is not authentic. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
