The desire to change a name

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 15647 )
Q: My real name, the one my parents gave me, is Bajad. Then a mistake occurred in the registration, and it was written as Badi instead of Bajad. My name has remained Badi until now. The One who is the First in everything is Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). I now wish to change my name. My family wants to change it to my original name, which is Bajad. I wish to change my name to Abd al-Khaliq. Some people prefer that I keep my current name, which is Badi. I hope you will inform me of which of these names is best, whom I should obey, and what your opinion is regarding my current name, Badi? We ask for pardon and forgiveness from Allah, and may Allah reward you with good.
A: There is nothing wrong with changing a name to one that is better than it. However, if some of the family object, and the name being changed is not one of the names disliked in the Shari'ah, then it is better not to change it in order to prevent dispute. The name mentioned, which is Badi, is not one of the names disliked in the Shari'ah, so there is no need to change it. Your statement that "The One who is the First in everything is Allah": if you mean that this is one of
the names of Allah, then this is an incorrect statement; because Badi is not one of the names of Allah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
