Fatwa No. ( 5218 )
Q: There is a man who is my neighbor, and he wanted me to go with him on an errand that would anger Allah. When I refused, he became angry with me and said to me: “I want you not to speak to me and I will not speak to you.” So, is there any sin on me for boycotting him? I want you to issue a ruling on this question.
A : If the situation is as you described, there is no sin on you, but you are not allowed to boycott him for more than three days. It is better for you to initiate the greeting if you meet him; for the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan Abi Dawud 4911Sahih (Al-Albani) . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

it is not allowable for a Muslim to keep apart from his brother for more than three days. When they meet, this turns away from him, and that turns away from him. The better of the two is the one who initiates in salutation.
