Q: If I vow to slaughter an animal in the month of Muharram, Safar, or any other month, is it permissible for me to slaughter the animal and distribute it, or to give the value of the animal to one needy person? Please inform us; may Allah reward you.
A: One who vows to slaughter an animal at a specific time and distribute it to the needy must fulfill his vow at that time; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 6696 , and it is not sufficient for him to give the value to the poor in place of slaughtering the animal he vowed for them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
