Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 655 )
Q6: A person vowed to slaughter a sacrificial animal for Allah the Exalted if his son returned in good health from a place of danger, and praise be to Allah, this son returned in good health. A poor family and orphans live near him. Is it permissible to give these orphans and poor people the value of this sacrificial animal in cash, in Saudi riyals or otherwise?
A6: It is obligatory for you to slaughter the sacrificial animal to fulfill your vow and to realize your intention and purpose, and as thanks to Allah for the well-being of your son. It should be a sacrificial animal
of at least medium value or higher, and of the type you intended when you made the vow, or of the type that is customary to slaughter to fulfill a vow. It is not permissible to pay its value in cash to poor orphans or others, as long as fulfilling the vow with the specific item vowed or its type is possible. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
