Fatwa No. ( 19344 )
Q1: I am a woman who fell ill and made a vow during my illness that if Allah heals me, I would slaughter a ram, so when Allah healed me, I slaughtered this
ram, and my husband said to me: This is your vow and the 'aqiqah for your daughter — and a new daughter has been born to me, this is the daughter — so is it permissible to combine the 'aqiqah with the vow ? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A1: This ram is not valid except for the vow only, as for the 'aqiqah, it is recommended for the father to slaughter a separate sheep for his daughter; because these two slaughters do not overlap; due to the difference in their causes and the connection of the Lawgiver's address to them.
Q2: She says: I made a vow not to do something, and I was forced to do it until I did it — which is living in the desert outside the city — so what is the ruling? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A2: One who is forced to violate his vow owes nothing; due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:[An-Nahl 16:106] , and what was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Sunan ad-Daraqutni 23:30 , but if your violation of the vow is without confirmed coercion, then you must pay the expiation for an oath, which is: freeing a believing slave, or feeding ten poor people or clothing them, if you cannot do that, then fast for three days.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith
إِلا مَنْ أُكْرِهَ وَقَلْبُهُ مُطْمَئِنٌّ بِالإِيمَانِIndeed, Allah has pardoned my ummah for mistakes, forgetfulness, and what they were forced to do
