Taking a fee for reconciling people

The third question of Fatwa No. ( 7123 )
Q 3: A man tasked me with resolving a dispute between him and other people, and asked me to work toward a settlement between him and his opponents. He said: "You will receive such and such an amount of money for the settlement, whether you succeed in settling it or not." In fact, a settlement was reached by mutual agreement among them, and I removed a harm that he feared at every moment. I did not act or strive for the sake of the money only; Allah knows that. Although he had stipulated the amount even if there were no settlement, he did not give it to me until more than a full year had passed, without my asking him for this amount. I actually refused it, but he insisted, swearing an oath, that I should take this amount as compensation for your efforts and your car expenses. Is this lawful for me or not? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A 3 : Reconciling people is a collective obligation (fard kifayah) upon the Muslims; because of His saying, the Exalted:[Al-Anfal 8:1] ,
and His saying:[An-Nisa 4:114] So it is better for you not to take this amount. And if you take it to fulfill his oath, the better course is to spend it in the causes of righteousness; hoping that Allah will grant you a great reward. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

A 3 : Reconciling people is a collective obligation (fard kifayah) upon the Muslims; because of His saying, the Exalted:
So fear Allah and amend that which is between you and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you should be believers.
No good is there in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is right or conciliation between people. And whoever does that seeking means to the approval of Allah - then We are going to give him a great reward.
