Fatwa No. ( 20778 )
Q: I am sending to your Eminence the text of a ruqyah for scorpion and snake bites that some of the elderly in the region use. One of the good people found it with his father, who had it for more than forty years, and he said: It is beneficial if recited over the afflicted person three times. I did not find a source for it in the books at my disposal. Its text is: “O Allah, we presented the will of the scorpion to the Christians and the Jews , and to Sulayman ibn Dawud, and we said: O Messenger of Allah, what is this (what is this) creature? He said: This is a creature from the creatures of the Fire, black like the dhahri, and yellow like the zahri. As for its neck, it is like the dithar, and as for its tail, it is like the saw. O Allah, if its poison is in the limbs, extract it into my flesh; and if its poison is in my flesh, extract it into the skin; and if it is in the skin, extract it into the hair. And we said: Descend with the power and might of Allah, three times.”
A : It is not permissible to use this ruqyah; because of the unknown names attributed to the People of the Book and the Prophet of Allah Dawud, and the words whose meaning is not understood. It was reported in a hadith of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:Sunan Abi Dawud 3883Sahih (Al-Albani) Narrated by Ahmad and Abu Dawud . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
