The Ruling on Gelatin

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 8039 )
Q: Is gelatin forbidden?
A: If gelatin is prepared from something forbidden, such as the pig or some of its parts like its skin and bones, then it is forbidden. Allah the Exalted said:
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swineحُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ الْمَيْتَةُ وَالدَّمُ وَلَحْمُ الْخِنْـزِيرِ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
, and the scholars have reached consensus that pig fat is included in the prohibition. If nothing from the forbidden things is included in the composition or substance of the gelatin, then there is nothing wrong with it.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
