The first question of Fatwa No. ( 16014 )
Q1: I rode with one of the group in his car and paid him 250 riyals, but he refused and I swore that I would not put the money back in my pocket, and he refused to accept the amount except for fifty riyals, and after persistence he accepted only 150, and one hundred riyals remained with him. Please inform us about that oath I swore.
A1: If you swore not to take anything from anyone and then you took it, then the expiation of the oath is obligatory upon you, which is: feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If you do not find any of the aforementioned, then you fast for three days; because it is an oath you intended to bind yourself to regarding a future matter. And Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Ma'idah 5:89] And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths. So its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people
