He swore to a man that he would take a sum of money, but the man refused to take it, so he gave it to his wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 12029 )
Q2: I swore or I took an oath by the Great Allah that I would give a man some money, but he did not take it, so I gave it to his wife and she accepted it . The oath was as follows: (By the Great Allah, that you take it). What is the ruling?
A2: If the matter is as you described, it is obligatory for you to pay the expiation for the oath because you broke your oath; and because the man’s wife receiving it is not the same as him receiving it. The expiation is: freeing a believing slave, or feeding ten poor people, or clothing them. If you cannot do that, then fast for three days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
