Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 11907 )
Q: I have commercial shops for selling watches, household vessels, and sanitary fixtures. In my shops, there are some men's watches and eyeglasses that are plated with gold, as well as household vessels and sanitary fixtures plated with real gold. I hope you will provide me with a detailed answer regarding the ruling on selling and using them, whether for men or women, and also in the home. May Allah preserve you, and peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings.
A: If the matter is as you described, it is not permissible to sell vessels or sanitary fixtures if they are plated with gold or silver for men or women; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 47:36 It is agreed upon that it is authentic, and his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): It is agreed upon that it is authentic, and the wording is from Muslim , and the remaining uses are annexed to eating and drinking; due to the generality of the cause and meaning, and to block the means to harm. Likewise, watches and eyeglasses plated with gold or silver, it is not permissible to sell them to men.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

Do not drink from vessels of gold and silver, nor eat from their platters, for they are for them in this world and for you in the Hereafter
لا تشربوا في آنية الذهب والفضة ولا تأكلوا في صحافهما، فإنها لهم في الدنيا ولكم في الآخرةThe one who eats or drinks in a vessel of gold or silver is merely dragging fire of Hell in his belly.
الذي يأكل أو يشرب في إناء الذهب والفضة إنما يجرجر في بطنه نار جهنمAnd success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
