Fatwa No. ( 14267 )
Praise be to Allah alone, and may peace and blessings be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. After that: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the General President from the honorable Director of the Dawah and Guidance Center in Abha, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, with number (4222) and date 20 \ 10 \ 1411 AH. His Eminence asked a question, the text of which is as follows: One of the preachers brought to the center a gold-colored cup, made of copper, suitable for drinking water, with the complete Ayat al-Kursi written inside it , and at the bottom it is written: Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim. We ask Your Eminence, after reviewing this, to issue a ruling on the permissibility of using it for drinking and the like, and on the ruling of drinking from it. May Allah preserve you, and peace be upon you.
After studying the inquiry, the Committee responded that it is not permissible to use the aforementioned cup; because it involves the humiliation of the two verses, as they are written inside it while it is being humiliated. If it is plated with gold, that is a second reason for the prohibition of using it.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
