Patients who visit the clinic sometimes give me some money as assistance and out of generosity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18719 )
Q: I am an Algerian young man who works as an assistant in the clinic of some doctors, where I receive patients and admit them for examination in exchange for a monthly salary of (4500) Algerian dinars. This is a very low salary that is not sufficient to provide for my family's essential needs, especially after I got married. It is known that the average income in our country is estimated at (4500 to... 10) Algerian dinars. However, what concerns me is that patients who visit the clinic sometimes give me some money as assistance and out of generosity, with the doctor's knowledge and approval . It is known that I do not provide any special or distinguished service to the patients who give me money compared to the other patients. Some of my brothers among the students of knowledge advised me not to take this money, while others told me that this money is permissible. Please inform us, may Allah preserve you, is it permissible for me to take this money?
A: It is not permissible for you to take anything from those who visit the doctor; because you
are an employee who arranges the entry of people to the doctor. If you take something from them, it becomes a forbidden bribe; because they give it to you in order for you to prioritize some of them over others, and to show favoritism to them in your work. Therefore, it is obligatory for you to observe trustworthiness in your work, to be just among people, and to refrain from taking anything from them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
