I was blessed with a male child, and I vowed and swore many times to name him after my father

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 15170 )
Q2: I inform you that I have been blessed with a male child, and I vowed and swore
many times to name him after my father (Bassis)
but after he left the hospital, I changed his name, and people said: his name is not suitable, and I was compelled to change his name. I hope for your answer and ruling on this. And peace be upon you.

A: You are not obligated to name your son after your father, and you must expiate the vow with the expiation of an oath, which is: feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. If you are unable to do all of that, then fast for three days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
