Fatwa number ( 20185 )
Q: I vowed to Allah that if Kuwait is liberated under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Fahd ibn Abdulaziz , I would pray in Kuwait as a thanksgiving to Allah. Praise be to Allah, Kuwait has been liberated, but I am frail and unable to walk or board a plane, and I cannot bear the hardship of travel. What should I do to fulfill my vow?
A: It is obligatory for you to perform the vowed prayer in the place where you are, and you are not required to travel to Kuwait in order to pray there; because the place has no special status, unless it is one of the three mosques: al-Masjid al-Haram or al-Masjid al-Nabawi or al-Masjid al-Aqsa . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
