Q 6: A man forgot how many days he vowed to fast, seven or ten; how should he proceed? And is he able to perform voluntary fasting before the vowed fast, or is it obligatory for him to fast the obligatory fast before the voluntary one?
A 6: He should fast the number of days of the vow that is most likely in his mind, and he is not obligated to fast the days he is uncertain about, nor should he perform voluntary fasting before fasting the vow; because fulfilling the vow is obligatory. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
