I said I would fast on Thursdays and Mondays until I die

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 16216 )
Q: I am a young man. One day, three years ago, I said: I will fast on Thursdays and Mondays until I die. Today, I can no longer bear fasting due to weakness of faith. Therefore, I ask your eminence to clarify this for me: is it a vow or voluntary worship, and what is its ruling now? Because I said I would fast without any compensation. Should I fast or not, and what is the expiation for me? May Allah reward you with good.
A: Saying “I will fast” is not a vow, but rather a promise. It has nothing to do with a vow. Therefore, it is not obligatory for you to adhere to the voluntary fasting of Mondays and Thursdays that you mentioned. And Allah knows best. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
